Our History

Our History

It began with a passion to serve those right in front of us...

In 1999, Alphil Guilaran and Bobby Ning had a vision to serve their university colleagues by teaching them basic financial survival skills in the midst of rising tuition, credit card debt and student loans.

At the encouragement of Alphil's mentor, he sat down with the President of the university he attended and discussed the blueprints of a student club that would serve the financial literacy needs of the student body.

As the student club grew, requests for workshops for teenagers from the Richmond Public Library set the wheels in motion for Financial Literacy Counsel to expand outside the four walls of a university campus.

The rest, as they say, is history....

Today, Financial Literacy Counsel is trusted by clients from all walks of life and our story has just begun.

Here are some of our significant milestones and organizations we've served.  We hope to add your organization in the near future so that together "we can build financially literate generations".
