Bobby J. Ning, BA
Managing Director
Bobby Ning is the co-founder of Financial Literacy Counsel. He leads and directs the company’s financial counselling practice, which serves the needs of individuals, families, corporations, and institutions. Under Bobby’s leadership, the Financial Literacy Counsel has emerged as a leader in providing integrated and holistic inter-generational financial wealth management solutions.
Bobby graduated from Simon Fraser University with a specialization in Criminology and completed both the Canadian Securities course and Insurance Council of British Columbia course. Bobby is a Million Dollar Round Table member.
Alphil J. Guilaran, BA
Executive Director
Alphil Guilaran is also a co-founder of Financial Literacy Counsel. He leads and directs the company’s financial education practice and is a Trusted Advisor to a select group of clients. Alphil is responsible for developing and delivering financial education programs to individuals, families, corporations, and institutions with an emphasis on retirement income planning, tax reduction strategies, and inter-generational wealth management.
Alphil graduated with a specialty in Political Science and Economics from the University of British Columbia and completed both the Canadian Securities course and Insurance Council of British Columbia course. His training and work experience includes business development and portfolio management administration at CIBC World Markets and RBC Dominion Securities. Alphil is a Million Dollar Round Table member.
Karl Krokosinski
Managing Partner
Karl Krokosinski is the co-founder of Customplan Financial Advisors and has over 30 years of experience in developing business leaders in the financial industry. Karl oversees the management of 11 Customplan offices across Canada, as well as affiliate offices in the United States, England, Mexico, and Hong Kong. Karl provides strategic advice to the Financial Literacy Counsel in the area of practice management and, with his team of specialists, provides training as well as administrative, compliance, and agency support to the management team of the Financial Literacy Counsel. Karl is a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table.

Peter Yi, LL.B
Wills and Incorporations
Peter Yi specializes in incorporations, business transactions, commercial leasing, corporation structuring, wills, and powers of attorney. Peter graduated with honours in Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and then went on to complete a law degree at the University of Victoria in 1998. Peter supports the Financial Literacy Counsel as a legal counsellor.
John Askin, LL.B
Tax, Trust, and Estate Planning
John Askin is the founder of Wealth Strategy Group, a company that specializes in family inheritance and business succession, with an emphasis on wealth preservation. John supports the Financial Literacy Counsel as an instructor and counsellor to high net worth clients. John received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta in 1977 and a Bachelor of Law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1980. Prior to founding the Wealth Strategy Group in 1998, John was a tax lawyer for 15 years in Alberta and British Columbia.

Divorce Financial Planning
Art Kewin is a lawyer and Certified Financial Planner, specializing in divorce financial planning. As a Certified Divorce Specialist, Art guides divorcing clients through their complex, often contentious and otherwise costly, legal and financial challenges. Art is licensed to practice law while concurrently holding securities and life insurance licenses.
Glen Kelleway, B.Sc, AMP
Mortgage Specialist
As an Accredited Mortgage Professional, Glen Kelleway supports the Financial Literacy Counsel as a mortgage broker and debt counsellor. Glen and his team are committed to helping clients understand credit instruments and how to develop habits to pay off loans. As an independent mortgage specialist, Glen has the ability to shop dozens of lenders to get the best loans, lines of credit, and mortgages that are tailored to the individual needs of his clients. Glen completed a B.Sc from Simon Fraser University and the Real Estate Professional Course at the University of British Columbia.
Lloyd Andrews, CFP
Medical Professionals Specialist
Lloyd Andrews specializes in addressing the banking and credit needs of medical and healthcare professionals. He supports the Financial Literacy Counsel by arranging customized loans, mortgages, and lines of credit for Physicians, Surgeons, and Dentists looking to start-up or expand their practice. Lloyd holds a Certified Financial Planner Designation.
Wendy Cheng, MA
Family Counseling and Mediation
Wendy Cheng is a Certified Marriage Counsellor. She supports the Financial Literacy Counsel as an educator on issues related to family dynamics, family mediation, and also provides counselling for engaged couples. She is a graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary in California.
Kelly Lohn, CA
Corporate Tax Planning
Kelly Lohn is a Chartered Accountant and supports the Financial Literacy Counsel as a corporate tax planning specialist for high net worth families and medium-to-large companies and charities. Kelly is the Managing Partner of LohnCaulder, a Chartered Accounting Firm, which employs 23 professionals and represents the accounting and tax planning needs of clients around the world.
Jason Nakano, CA
Personal and Business Tax Planning
Jason Nakano is a a senior manager of the firm, providing tax planning, compliance for owner/managers and business advisory services to clients. As a Chartered Accountant, Jason supports the Financial Literacy Counsel as a personal and business tax specialist.

Terry Schorn has over 10 years of experience designing Executive and Employee Benefit Plans. Terry advises and represents employers on a full range of employee and executive benefits issues and has assembled a team of specialists to provide timely and cost-efficient solutions. Terry also trains financial advisors across Canada on group benefit plan design & funding, long-term cost containment, and tax structures.
Micheline Varas, EPC, RHU
Risk Management
Micheline Varas has over 15 years of experience working with families, companies, and institutions to develop financial risk management strategies. She is a registered health underwriter and specializes in developing advanced solutions dealing with executive health benefits packages in the area of disability and critical illness insurance. Micheline is a Million Dollar Round Table member.

Esther Lee is an Associate with the Financial Literacy Counsel. She specializes in financial literacy for women and implementing customized financial solutions for families and small businesses.

Bonita Jane Kee
Operations Manager
Bonita is the Operations Manager for Financial Literacy Counsel. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company, as well as keeping procedures and processes up to date. Formerly from the management team at Davis and Henderson, Bonita brings her various skills to Financial Literacy Counsel. She likes to volunteer in her spare time and has been a head coach in softball for the Richmond Special Olympics team. She enjoys traveling, dancing, and cooking.
Ian MacLean
Compliance Officer
Ian MacLean supports Financial Literacy Counsel as a third party compliance officer. He oversees contracting with suppliers and ensures that the management complies with the standards set out by regulatory authorities.
